Raising Kids with Books, Tech & Nothing – 16 Novemer

Despite what we know, what we have these days, many still say, ‘things were different/better/simpler before.’ What is making the difference? Is it what we have, or what we do, or how we see? This evening will be a discussion about these things with someone familiar with the science of the head and the heart. The tradition and the modern. Omar Mahmood was born and raised in Southern California. He completed his undergraduate studies in Psychobiology and Arabic. He then traveled overseas to study traditional Islamic Sciences at Dar al-Mustafa, in the Yemeni valley of Hadramawt. His studies focused on jurisprudence, Arabic grammar, and sciences of the heart. After returning to the States, he completed a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and is currently employed as a neuropsychologist. He serves as a national advisor for MYNA (Muslim Youth of North America) and is a Board Member of Access California Services (a non-profit social services agency assisting Arab and Muslim communities in southern California).
