To God, Through Money – 25 October

Mohamed Geraldez is an American Muslim entrepreneur who is in Malaysia attending the Global Entrepreneurship Summit with President Obama and his group. Mohamed invests in companies like Jaan J., the largest halal non-silk necktie company in the world, and George Charles & Sons, a custom suit maker in New York City.

He also serves as an advisory board member to several entities like the Information Technology Consulting Firm, GeniusCo, and the American Muslim Consumer Conference group that hosts the most important yearly gathering that connects leading American corporations with American Muslim entrepreneurs, companies, businessmen/women and investors.

Mohamed was recently tapped to be the first Executive Director for Co-Founder, Dr. Sherman Jackson’s ALIM Program where strategies are being developed for the future of Islam in the modern world. Mohamed hopes to transform the ALIM Program from a traditional non-profit to a trailblazing, hybrid not-for-profit that can better serve the American Muslim community.

He was asked to present his unique personal story in the book by White Cloud Publications “All-American: 45 American Men on Being Muslim.” The book can be ordered at Amazon.com.

Muhammad with Fatimah, Hassan and Hussin: Early Childhood Development – 27 Sep

Shaykh Mohammed Aslam memorised the Quran from an early age, after which he embarked on a path of seeking sacred knowledge. He ultimately travelled to Damascus where he undertook extensive private studies as well as enrolling in one of the most prestigious Islamic institutes in the world, Mahad al-Fath al-Islami seminary from where he graduated after six years of full time study with some of the greatest scholars in the world.

On returning to the U.K, he enrolled in Post-graduate studies at the same time as serving as Imam Khatib of one of the largest mosques in Birmingham. Shaykh Aslam established The City of Knowledge Academy which serves as a bustling hub of educational activity as well as also advising various community and grassroots projects around the city.

The Art & Craft of Storytelling – 4 June

Rehan Khan was born in Wimbledon, in 1971 and is now based in Dubai with his wife and two children. Rehan penned his first ‘novel’ at the age of nine and has been writing ever since. As a child he loved listening to swashbuckling tales of heroism and valour, as well as dabbling in science fiction. Whilst attending the Oxford University Summer School for Adults in 2010 he started scribbling notes around courage and valour. This became the beginnings for the Last of the Tasburai, his debut epic fantasy novel. During the day, Rehan is the Regional Consulting Director in the MENA region for a FTSE 100 corporation, and is also a Professor of Management at an international business school.

Khalina Khalili is a mother of three teenagers and author of “The Camel’s Journey.” Her “Kids and Science Series” are soon to be published by Dar al-Andalus(InshaAllah) comprising of ten stories that portray the Islamic approach towards nature for ages 6 months to three years old. She is currently doing her Ph.D. in Islamic Philosophy at the Centre for Advanced Studies in Islam, Science and Civilization(CASIS), UTM.

Abraham as the Patriarch of Shari’a Diversity – 4 Feb

The Cambridge Muslim College was the original vision of Abdal Hakim Murad, who continues to oversee and contribute to its work. Abdal Hakim was educated at Cambridge, Al-Azhar and London universities. He is currently the Shaykh Zayed Lecturer of Islamic Studies in the Faculty of Divinity at Cambridge University and Director of Studies in Theology at Wolfson College. He has published and contributed to numerous academic works on Islam, including as Director of the Sunna Project, and is a leading figure in inter-faith activity, notably as one of the signatories to the Common Word statement. He is well-known as a contributor to BBC Radio 4’s ‘Thought for the Day’.
